Visakhapatnam

In addition to being an east-coast seaport, Visakhapatnam is an industrial city. Part of the city is known by its colonial British name, Waltair; during the colonial era, the city's hub was the Waltair railway station and the surrounding part of the city is still called Waltair. The city is home to several state-owned heavy industries and a steel plant; it is one of India's largest seaports and has the country's oldest shipyard. Sathyanarayana Swami Temple on Sathyanarayana Konda in Anakapalle Sri Sri Nookambika Ammavari Temple: this temple is located in Gavarapalem and houses the goddess Nookambika. Appalaraju built this temple to Kakatambika, a family goddess; she would later be called Nookambika, or Nookalamma. On “Kottha Amavasya,” a day before Ugadi, thousands of people from throughout Andhra Pradesh come here for worship.

Gowri Parameswara Temple: another important temple is Gouramma Gudi (the temple of Gouri), where every year in the last week of January people celebrate "Sambaram" a celebration which lasts for 10 days.
